Skeinwright ratings from verified buyers
Verified reviews.
These ratings come from buyers of the exact two tools we sell, ordered through the supplier storefront that fulfills our orders. That storefront ships worldwide, so the people behind them live in many different countries. The swift and the winder stay separate here: a rating left for one never counts toward the other, and a photo taken of the winder never appears next to a swift rating.
Umbrella swift: 5.0 out of 5, 26 ratings
Buyers of the swift wrote about it without adding photos, so this section is text only. Two of them mention the metal clamp, and we cover that point below rather than skip it.
Really excellent swift for the price! Be aware that the metal clamp isn't super finished

Ball winder: 4.9 out of 5, 285 ratings
The winder is the tool people photograph on their own table, so this section carries 8 buyer photos. Every photo belongs to the buyer whose words sit under it.
The box arrived a little damaged and almost disassembled, but the machine arrived in good condition and complete, very easy to use and understand.

What buyers flag
Two points come back often enough to state plainly. On the swift, the metal clamp is functional but its finish is basic, and one unhappy buyer reports that the swift closed on itself while the yarn was under tension. Tighten the clamp screw hard against a flat table edge, open the umbrella until every ring seats, and keep the pull gentle: that is the handling this frame asks for. On the winder, the gears have to sit properly before the first turn, which is what one buyer describes above after his first attempt went wrong.
Measurements published by the manufacturer carry a stated tolerance of 1 to 3 cm, so treat 16.54 in of height and 21.65 in of span as close values rather than exact ones. Read our testing method for the checks behind these pages.
